I know in D2 it was always about perfection I guess we do lose that now, I understand we have Inferno to just play through over and over again with all the skills trying out different combos/gear and just farming for that leet gear but Im a little worried that we might be losing the main replayability factor that existed in D2...Anyone else agree?
Now the only reasons I can see myself remaking the character is to have a different name (Blizzard will probably implement paid named changes) or I just want to play the game through again (yet why with Inferno)...|||You put all your gear into common stash, start a new character, take that gear and put it on, that's how you re-level.|||

Not asking how, im asking why?|||
Because it's at the core of Diablo, obviously. If you play with your lvl 60 character only, there is no point in levels in the first place.

brbdvz lol|||
Use a different rune and item configuration from your first monk. Maybe the first monk is runed and geared for melee, while your second one is runed and geared for a ranged set of abilities.|||I don't think there is any reason to create multiple of any character now. The direction to go in is to explore the other character classes, and get a full feel of the game. Instead of like D2, where you make on Char and focus all skills in 1 or 2 talents. This way D3 encourages you to try all classes and experience the game with the unique story and quests for each class.
But I agree, there is no motivation to create duplicate toons of the same class.|||I think you're a bit confused. In the past, did you relevel to get a high level character of the same class but with a different build? If that's the case then you should be happy- you won't have to go through the whole super fast rush to end game in order to play your different build.
Did you relevel so that you could have fun playing the same class but using a different build or playing in a different party? If that's the case you should be happy- you can still do this.
Are you saying you liked to be forced to rush through the leveling process to try a new build?|||

This is easily done on the same toon as you can remove/change skills/runes at will...right? Why would I go through the whole process when I can just stash the two different sets and change it up in town.
I guess it is kind of like WoW, when you have a level 85 Druid? (is that max level now?) you don't need to relevel the class at all as you can change everything just by paying a few bucks|||

But you will never replay through a character with Inferno available as you can play through the game with every skill/passive and collect high end gear while doing it...why would you possible want to go back and play through the game if you are not trying to perfect your character...
I just think there is a little bit of replayability loss, even though there may be a gain with inferno we don't know if its positive or negative...I for one see myself getting bored a little quicker then I did in D2|||I like leveling new characters and will always like it. In d2 I had multiple identical characters, same builds and pretty same gear, just for the fun of leveling.
I am 100% sure even with having a main characters and stuff, later I will start leveling new characters that I already have, just because leveling and playing the game again is fun. That's also a reason why I don't really like the 10 characters limit but it's not a big deal.
Sure this is a little something, but there's pretty much no other reasons. I don't know if it's just me, but I'm feeling there will be less and less reasons to replay since you can level up the 5 classes, pick your favortie one, stick with it and just farm gear. With the RMAH, farming gear may even not happen in some cases. I am really looking forward to PvP.|||If you need to ask why you should do it you shouldn't be doing it.
I don't know why I should lvl more than 2-3 per class.
But why would have to in a game?
Is a game supposed to be about lvling the same characters again and again?|||

But why waste time releveling "Even if you persay like it" when you can just keep playing the game through and through in Inferno and having a chance of getting leet gear...I just don't see it happening anywhere near as often therefor losing that piece of magic that Diablo II had which has kept the game alive for so long...
Im feeling a tedious grind that can get boring if Blizzard isn't careful|||

I don't think they can be removed, but I could be wrong. You can replace them, but then you lose what was already in the skill slot.|||

You're implying that's a bad thing.
Let's be honest here, D2 is incredibly shallow. What D2 boils down to is a joyless rush to get to Hell so you can run a single boss over and over to farm gear... to be better at farming gear. Eventually you get bored because using the same 2-3 skills to run the same boss over and over and over is mind-numbingly dull, so you make a new character and the cycle continues.
Now, what if you didn't need to run the same boss over and over to get awesome loot. What if you could get good loot just by playing the game as it was meant to be played.
What if you didn't need to repeatedly re-level characters because they got boring, because your characters had a large pool of viable skills to choose from, and could mix and match and rune them however you wanted, whenever you wanted.
I don't know about you, but D3 sounds like it'll be a lot more fun than D2, and this is coming from someone who has been playing since 2000 and has dropped hundreds of hours (probably 1k+) on it.|||You don't relevel. Blizz has eliminated the inefficiencies associated with having fun. You never need to commit to anything so you can change to whatever you want whenever you want.|||

That's almost word for word what I just said.|||I will probably end up having two (or more) of the same class leveling, since I'll have a character that I play with my co-workers, and then a different character that I play with family, and then a different character that I play alongside my best friend, etc.|||

Yah I'll probably end up having something similar, one with friends and the other for solo play.|||

I was being sarcastic. I hate the idea of a single wonder build that can be anything at any time. There's absolutely nothing new to try the second time around.|||

You won't have enough character slots. :p
