EDIT - fixed typo.|||Or your ghost could join PvM games and possess monsters to control them, but you could only possess monsters at or below your level when you died. So you would need to get to lvl 60 to possess lvl 60 monsters. I guess they should make an exception for Inferno and let lvl 60s possess 61s.|||
Q u o t e:
Hmm, seemed like fun to me, but I don't play HC. Since I don't play HC, I won't be asking for any kind of alternative for when HC players die because ultimately, I don't care. It's not my time that ends up being wasted. When I die, I revive. This was just a suggestion.
If that's the case though, I'm again curious why so many of these threads are popping up asking for some kind of safety-net for HC characters. Are these SC players asking for these safety-nets? Cause that just doesn't make any sense. Why would a SC player be making suggestions such as 'pay real money for rez' or 'HC becomes SC when you die' if they're not going to be playing HC in the first place? Why should they care? I just assumed they were HC players asking for these concessions. Perhaps not.
So yeah, I'll freely admit that this was a suggestion by me, a player that does not play HC. It just seemed to me that you some of you wanted 'something' available after death and it sounds to me like many of you actually do. I don't agree with the ability to come back to life in any meaningful way because that isn't HC. If you remove the risk of death from HC, it's no longer HC, right? However, this suggestion does not remove that risk. When you're dead, you're dead. You can never again gain levels, aquire gear or kill monsters in the world of Sanctuary. You are dead. I'm just not opposed to people wanting to continue having fun with the characters they put their time and effort into after death either, as long as they are permanently dead and can never enter the 'real game' again. Unless they decide to make a new character that is.
It was the only solution I could think of that would allow HC to remain HC and still allow players the ability to do something with their characters after they die. Ultimately though, if this isn't implemented and from the sound of it, some HC players don't want it implemented, (not like I had any expectations anyway) my personal game isn't affected in the slightest because when it's all said and done, I'll be playing my game SC. I'm just curious if the people saying that they don't want it speak for the majority in this manner. As I pointed out, why else are we seeing these types of threads pop up?
Anyway, it's just a suggestion. We've seen some people's feedback on the suggestion, both for and against. I'd like to keep this open for debate and see what more people think about it. If nothing else, it may make a good discussion.
Alot of the HC players that were / are regular HC players just dont want rules changed to make it "less hardcore". giving them any kind of access to a character other than showing up in chat as a ghost form --well goes against the grain of many of the people dedicated or tight on the HC concept.
HC is HC -- not medium core.. making chars usable in any way whatsoever takes away from the HC...
think of it this way...
OOps I died--- ahh well, ill just enter ghost pvp arenas with it...
or think
OHHH NOOO---hauhuh... ummmmm.... ohhh didn't expect that to happen :/ well time to start over :D---hmmm did i remember to set "allow loot?" :{
the second option seems horrible to those who dont play or dont like HC---but its an major rush when this happens to a high lvl character and a conversation piece with your friends when you get over the "oops"
D2 was aligned around "you die... your done" and HC fans want that tradition.
