In all fairness to Jay, I'm guessing the RMAH is being pushed by Vivendi since WoW turned them all into wh0res. How does it look when you work on a game that isn't even going to bring in billions? Is it even worth the effort?
Gotta wonder if it's ever crossed the an anti-rmt'ers mind that customers may actually WANT such a feature? That there could actually be players who LIKE the thought of buying and selling digital gear? And that perhaps Blizzard performed market research that PROVED the hypothesis that there's a lot of people who would like such a feature?
Probably not....|||

I still can't understand why does people hate so much RMAH.
We have all of those d2magic site where they sell everything for D2, which is illegal.
RMAH only legalize the service, plus you dont have to pay for illegal stuff, to "companies"that you can't really trust, and also the risk of being banned or something.
If you didnt bought anything through those "d2 services", just dont use RMAH... godamnit!
Let me explain very simply what people hated so much. It was the impression that instead of fighting the illegal selling of items outside the game economy, they made it easy to do it in the game while taking a cut on it, while allowing people with money to shortcut their way to end game gear.
That is what people hate so much about the RMAH. The fact of the matter is we don't know how it will turn out to be until the game is launched.
It's like if Blizzard allowed chinese farmers to sell stuff and gold through a RMAH (which they haven't done... why?) instead of making it hard for farmers and buyers to do it, like they're doing right now. So why is it good in one game, but not in another?
It raises many questions, and among those questions, the question of fairness in regards to people without real money to spend on L337 gear.
I don't care anymore, I'll just play the game and won't give a darn about those overgeared guys who either spend their lives grinding, or their real money buying the gear... I know i'll still love the game anyway..
Hope this helps you put everything in context...|||And im pretty sure there will have D3stuff sites selling stuff...
So it will be the same as D2, but you'll be able to choose to buy legaly or not =)|||
You gotta admit, number of ragers is considerable. Just as the number of offline players. Two big groups unhappy led to raging flame for three weeks.|||

A lot of reasons. But basically it's just envy uncalled for. Not everybody's gonna spend millions and not everybody who spends will own the best items.
Basically it's just that it degrades gameplay and the value of the in game gold currency. But I'll be on HC anyways :D. And I have to give them that, at least they kept HC pure.|||We all have our solutions as veteran players, but look at those lost newcomers. They're the biggest group and half of them is unhappy with recent news. And Blizz can't do much really, it's just the way such big things go.|||

WellI cant see the problem on taking a cut on it. At least (I hope) it wont have dupes, so you'll know all the stuff is legit. Let the chinese or whoever these crazy farmers are sell items on RMAH, its like WoW, you can buy a fully equiped char with all the stuff and achievs, but you wont have the fun of playing it, and you wont know how to play it... so you'll be a noob xD
I'm sorry, but english is not my primary language, and I dont know how to say what I'm really thinking...
Anyway, I'm pro RMAH|||

Yeah pretty much I am just accepting Diablo 3 for what it is now. I can't say for sure, but I doubt this game will keep me even remotely interested as long as D2 did. Diablo 1 and 2 were amazing games though, hard to compete.|||

Probably not....
Indeed. Probably not. Do I think "because it's going to happen anyway" sounds like a real D3 development team excuse? No, it sounds like executive garbage to justify getting their slice of the pie. A real Jay Wilson answer wouldn't address what is or isn't going to happen. It would address what is or isn't good for the game. The fact that some people bought items in D2 doesn't mean its good for the game. I can't be bothered to go over all the reasoning because arguing is useless. Blizz doesn't care and neither do you. RMAH is here to stay. Game over.
Though I have to say, in terms of hype, an RMAH joke just before launch is about as much as you could hope for.
EDIT: wording|||
Q u o t e:
After watching some of the interviews, I for one am so happy that Jay Wilson is in charge.
Im very glad that this game will have only online-play. Without that, Im sure that I would get caught making a single-player character by mistake and get stuck without all the online services they provide, which would really cheapen my experience and make the game unplayable.
Thank you Jay Wilson!
