We get it, you love the rush and you think we're carebears (or whatever the new term is I suppose).
I've played hardcore before, I know where you're coming from. There's adrenaline rushes, fear, the knowledge that any move you make could be your last. Softcore players think you're crazy and you find it hilarious, you get your own little community of players, you get a warm fuzzy feeling if you hit level cap because you effing survived to get there. Yes, you did it, good for you.
However, please stop assuming Softcore players "have no balls." They are not lesser gamers than you, they are not somehow inferior, they are not crybabies, they are not cowards, etc.
We're all gamers here, we have different preferred styles of gaming, that does not mean either style is wrong. Yes, you are in fact playing a harder mode, we understand that. You don't tend to see Softcore players insulting Hardcore players though, it's almost always the other way around. I'm sorry, you need to grow up and realize not every gamer is the same.
These are not the WoW forums, please don't drag in silly elitism over such a minor thing. We are all Diablo fans, we are all gamers.
Look guys...he is right...
Just because softcore players are noobs, have no balls, no skills, no real intelligence, the memory span of a goldfish and the patience of a 4 year old with A.D.D., that is no reason to not treat them like human beings and we owe them that dignity :)|||I played hardcore once. Died to the bnet servers crapping out. Vowed to never waste my time again when death could come due to internet or server cut outs instead of lack of skill.
Saw many rage posts in diablo2 about people losing their HC chars they invested months and months on just to die due to lag or server issues.|||
Oh snap! We are all carebears. (Sad but true.)

There is no real challenge in fighting AI, real difficulty lies in facing human opponents. With that said, I enjoy me some PvE! But lets not pretend it is really all that difficult, for HC or SC.
Besides I consider the term "softcore" to be a shallow insult developed by elitists to validate themselves, to appease there inferiority complex or superiority complex.|||Sutasafaia i don't think you should worry or care about the HC players, it was their option, if anything, if they do die, its their lose. So to their insults, i meh at them.|||TBH, any HC characters calling SC characters that are actually the ones who are casual carebears.|||

Now now, let's not start dragging casual vs hardcore into this also. Casual and carebear are two different things as well, and carebear is generally intended as an insult.|||

They're pretty much the same thing and they both can be used as insults.|||

sad part is---those who bust a gut over pvp--- have no imagination at all. the only thing they know is move from x-y and look for players.... you can get that on the old atari 2600 tank game.
about any game I have been in had no originality... run here--hide here---wait for xplayer to come around... jump out--kill him...
Ok---no real challenge to fighting AI--- i guess you solo ALL of world of warcraft 20man raid bosses--- theres no challenge there...
Im guessing your one of the QQ'ing lil kids thats all mad cause PVP is not the focus in this game?|||

Yes and no.
Casual: A person who schedules their game time around life
Hardcore: A person who schedules life around their game time
Any other definition people use like how much a person plays is pointless to me. Casual may be able to be used as an insult but it's a silly one.
As far as carebear, I don't honestly even know what it means anymore. It's been used as long as I can remember as an insult and I really never cared enough to look into it after a while. It's an insult, past that I lose interest, I see no reason to let people get to me with a false sense of superiority gained through calling people silly names.|||

No, just a man with an opinion! You don't have to agree with it, but what's with all the name calling!?
Certainly, you could pin the start of that on me, I did say that PvE in general is for carebares, but I used it as a term of endearment. I myself enjoy PvE for its general ease and lack of competition. It is a game after all, and made to be fun! Competitive PvP in any form (RPG, RTS, FPS) is tense and unrelenting. Sometimes I just want to relax and enjoy a game without needing 110% focus that PvP requires.
I came to terms with no PvP focus in D3 a long time ago. I would love to carry my professional SC2 commentary skills into Diablo 3 Arena, but it seems there will be no room for it! Alas, the game will still be plenty enjoyable, and you certainly wont ever hear me crying. Lifes to short to be upset about a videogame ;)

GO PLAY IKARUGA AND THEN SAY THAT TO MY FACE >:( ANGRY FACE I'm so sorry I didn't mean it. :c|||That's more like Player vs Bullets. You can't really fight back against bullets.|||Ikaruga still gives me nightmares. I've made it to the final stage only once, and I still have yet to actually beat that game. Would still be trying if my disk hadn't gotten stepped on :(|||

Casual and hardcore aren't about time spent on a game, they're about skill. You can have someone who doesn't play much and still be hardcore and capable of beating 99% of the population, and you can also have someone who spends 70+ hrs a week gaming who is a total casual noob .
It's really ironic because "Hardcore Mode" isn't really hardcore at all since it's the same exact experience as softcore. Being hardcore in name is enough to fool the masses though.|||

You're right, it's not about time spent, it's about how they prioritize life over gaming or the other way around. Skill, at least to me, has nothing to do with hardcore or casual. A skilled player is a skilled player, not a hardcore player, otherwise the words could simply be swapped in and out. It's the same as casual, casual does not mean you aren't skilled, otherwise you're back to lumping in casual as an insult and casual is most certainly not an insult.
That said, this discussion tends to get people very heated for some reason so it may be better to avoid it entirely.|||

Well you don't call someone a casual gamer because they are playing a casual game. They become a casual gamer when they are incapable of playing at a hardcore level. It's not always an insult, I'd be one of the first to admit I've played a casual game before and enjoyed it, but that doesn't make me a casual gamer, it just means I'm carebearing it up =D
Anyways, odds are D3 will be a casual game anyways since they are not going to focus on developing a sophisticated PVP system and the PVE difficulty can only be so high while still being accessible to the masses, which is obviously a priority for blizzard.
Nothing insulting about the term "casual" here, it's going to be an amazingly enjoyable game. Competitive though? It's a joke to claim what you're doing takes a lot of skill when it doesn't, and when someone says softcore characters are being "casual", they're just ironically showing how clueless they are about their own casual carebearness.|||

I personally smiled at how effective your trolling was Force. You didn't even have to try to disguise it. It was just blatant but still effective.
P.S. Keep up the good work on the videos. I enjoy them a lot. Somehow especially the MTG ones even though I've never been interested in MTG before.|||

Where exactly in that quote is there name calling?
I'm no literature major but I'm pretty sure categorizing someone as being one of the "QQ'ing lil kids thats all mad" is name calling.|||

You don't get it.
We do have different preferred styles of gaming, and you're right, that does not mean either style is wrong. But it does mean one style is clearly inferior to the other.
