Confirmation: Chat Gem Did Nothing

[:1]A post on diablo.incgamers.com recounts a recent interview with Jay Wilson where he spoke about the chat gem. In it, he confirmed D3 will not have a chat gem, and "I will definitively say the chat gem did nothing in D2."
And there you have it. After a decade of guessing we finally have official confirmation that it was nothing more than an easter egg and served no real purpose. That's pretty cool of them not to keep their audience guessing and to come forward with the truth.

I feel like a kid who was told Santa doesn't exist. I wanted the chat gem in D3 so bad!

The D2 chat gem did nothing, but the new D3 chat gem has mystical properties. One fired alpha tester proved that if you got three perfect gems in a row, you got free RMAH trades for life.
