I´m diablo fan since 99´ and my opinion on that is strictly no.
I think, that many positives, which are on the original thread are there, because pure diablo fan´s still haven´t got access to post there like the WoWer´s. We have spend thousands of hours, through the years, by searching for better items and it´s fun until nowadays. This is the thing that keeps me whole the time in game - to find better and more sexy item. Somebody has cheap helm, later kicky, that is nice. Not to hide maybe good, but ugly helm. Things around wear has to be closer to reality. If somebody dont want the helm in town, where will be the only chance to take a long look on other characters, than he could simply put it in inventory.^^
Btw the new D3 community site seems really nice, thank you!|||I'm all for the option so long as it's in town. Its only reasonable, just like sheathed weapons(although that wasn't in d2 either). As for being able to hide helm during combat is another thing and not something I would want myself.|||Have you seen the retarded ass helms?

Who designs this **%%, seriously? Those are both really decent kits except for their antlers. I don't know whether to play the monk or mount his head on my wall.|||

I don't see how another player being able to hide the visual display of their helmet "in combat" would negatively impact your play experience. You do realize that you'll be able to inspect people, right?
The helmets we saw them show off at Gamescom were ridiculous. I'm sure I'm not in the minority here as someone who wants to be able to keep those garish monstrosities hidden.|||

Worse, I'm interested mostly in the Wizard.
Starfish.
STARFISH.
Don't get me wrong--a lot of the gear looks simply amazing, and I'm really looking forward to seeing some huge, way over-the-top shields in the game. But some of these helmets are just "what the hell are you thinking" kinds of deals. This is, of course, all subject to opinion, but giving players options is never a bad thing.
(...well, almost never)|||

I said, it's not something I would want myself. I could care less if someone else has the option on in combat. I would like the option to hide helm while in town only. As you said, it would not impact me at all.
