Anyone else going to play hardcore for this reason?|||You do understand you do not have to partake in the RMAH..
There are so many RMAH threads that there is really no need to make another.
Yes there are other people that are going to play hardcore to 'avoid' the rmah.. it doesnt really matter.|||Originally I had planned to play both Hardcore and Softcore, but now I`m the same boat as you.
Now here`s hoping that the skill system gets some sort of revision.
Edit: Xkyle, since gold can be traded for money, and money for gold, a player has to not trade at all, even on the gold AH to avoid the RMAH.|||To answer your question, no.
I will be playing hardcore though, softcore too. And if you really think it will be fair just because there is no RMAH, just look at d2 there was none their either. Did poeple buy items for real money in d2?
While I dont like buying power for money and wont buy a single item through the RMAH, I really think it was a good idea for blizzard to implement RMAH. This way I might make a few bucks of the fellas with more money than sense.|||Even if I played softcore and did not partake in the RMAH, other people still will, which makes the game unfair to people that don't.|||

Are you saying there won't be third party websites selling hardcore items for real money, and people using these websites?
Nice optimism.|||You must be really naive to think that hardcore will stop RMT.
Out of sight, out of mind.|||I don't think a black market auction house that caters just to hardcore will get many customers.
But, yeah they will probably exist.|||

How is it unfair to people who dont... your not competing against anyone...its not an e-sport of any kind.
worried about pvp? join an anti-rmah clan and hope they dont lie about where they got their gear. hope the HC people didn't buy their gear from that d3 type item sites. if your worried about fairness in games and that people dont use cash to buy items...well pull the plug out of your computer --- format the hard drive and bring up call of duty on your playstation and hope they aren't using cheats.
How is blizz to keep recieving revenue on this game aside from either a "cash shop" which there would be alot of yelling about, or a monthly fee that may dwindle hard after people have played through Normal Mode.
the RMAH is a way they can continue to gain revenue and keep the game up to date without charging monthly access to the game. it's also a means to fight against the 3rd party farmers/sellers as anyone can sell items on the RMAH-- their losing large costs to maintaining their site with ALOT less people inclined to buy from them.
if you think a monthly subscription will be the answer all to the whole problem--- look at how many monthly fee games are failing miserably. this will allow people like 'you' who refuse to spend anything more on the game than the original purchase to keep playing it, and allow for those who want to supplement their characters with cash bought items a means to get items legit through blizzard itself.
meanwhile- blizz recieves money regularly and can afford to continue updates/expansions and support for the game. If they do well enough with the RMAH - they may decide to add more advanced pvp options in the future to help them grab more money from the RMAH as people will start hitting harder for pvp style gear.|||I think it's a little foolish to assume all players who want to avoid the RMAH assume that there will be no RMT without it being supported by Blizzard. Cheaters gonna cheat, doesn't mean we have to support it.|||

In Diablo 2 I liked playing both softcore and hardcore characters. In Diablo 3 I'm only going to play hardcore because I want to completely avoid the bs auction house and actually play a game that is fair to all players. I just hope hardcore mode is available without having to beat the game with a softcore character first.
This seems like a good way to avoid real world trading.
Anyone else going to play hardcore for this reason?
Buy my piece of level xxxx level 1 gear for $10 from the RMAH, and I will give you this level 99 epic Hardcore piece of gear!!
You can't avoid it, even in Hardcore.|||

Well said --- or what i forsee for HC right now --- "GOTO D3ITEMMALL - get your PERM godly gear now for only 5.95 -- Free r14 gem with every order"
that is why the people yelling about the RMAH has no basis for their QQ'ing. HC is gonna be filled with spam bots --- *Spam bots are text only--they log-in - do either a general "whois" and msg or they broadband spam, those will be easy to get in* They still exist in WoW no matter what they try to get rid of them.
with RMAH in place --- guess what happens -- spam bot starts -- people think to them selves--- Ill just buy from RMAH - wont be scammed that way... soon spam bots disappear from SC cause there is no buyers.|||

Oh my God, talk about pretensious...
I mean... why care, really? People seriously care about where other people got their gear THAT much? Whatever emotion that makes you so uptight is gonna eat you alive throughout your life =/|||haha honestly i was thinking the same thing. would be nicer to have a RMAH free server though. that way all the pro-rmah guys could still go make their millions and I could be completely free of it all.
EDIT:

Maybe the OP is upset simply because of "fairness" issues. But the majority issue is the belief that the real money economy will negatively affect the gold economy in a number of ways. It's of course all theory but it's not like we're short on examples of how economies affect each other. To suggest you can add another currency system and have it stand alone as an option and not an integrated part of the game seems crazy to me. I don't give a %**# if someone buys all their stuff. That's just not the issue.|||

It is about the e-peen. Hating is pretty much always about trying to feel superior in some way.|||If you think about it, it most likely means that all the damn farmer website bots will focus on HC players entirely.
And since D3 won't support any kind of addons, we won't be able to protect ourselves from that like we can do in WoW for example.
Also i have been considering playing SC instead not only for the reason above, but why not make some additional money IRL while playing the game.|||This is an ironic situation.
Its softcore to avoid the auction house.
Its hardcore to PLAY the auction house.
In HC-mode you risk your character.
In SC-mode you risk whatever resources you put into and get out of the RMAH.
The title should be "Playing hardcore is like being a carebear" or "Using the Auction House is Hardcore"
Different view on the subject eh?
Wanna know the biggest thing wrong with anti-RMAH HC-mode?
1. Person buys items on HC char.
2. Person dies with HC char.
3. HC char items transferred to SC mode.
4. ?????
5. 3rd party profit.|||
Nope, I love HC mode to pieces but I'll be forced to play mostly softcore so that I can sell things via the RMAH. Sucks to be you just as much as it sucks to be me, just remember, the RMAH-haters aren't the only ones who need to make sacrifices.
