This is how Magic Find should exist in D3...?

[:1]I doubt this is a completely new idea and I don't even know what's been said about Magic Find from Blizzard concerning Diablo 3, this is just a recent thought I had....and these ideas all come from sheer boredom waiting for new news/beta to come out, so sorry if it's nothing new.
If Magic Find is to exist in Diablo 3, I wish it would be something you add to armor/weapons yourself. I don't like the idea of having to pick and choose between the most powerful items and those which have a lot of Magic Find on them (I'm assuming the most powerful items will not have much Magic Find on them). Wouldn't it be nice to have the most powerful item for a given item slot and be able to have a maximum amount of Magic Find on that item?
So something that might solve this problem would be to have something in the game like "Magic Find Dust" or some better name but we'll use MFD in this example. MFD would be obtained through salvaging and maybe drop off beasts. Once you have 1 MFD (=1% MF) you can choose to put it on an item and it will add 1% Magic Find to it. Then you could have the option to take it off an item through an artisan for a gold cost and perhaps you would only keep 50% of the amount rounded down to the nearest whole number. So for an item with 1% Magic Find, you would get nothing back, but if you have a really good weapon with say 25% MF and then you find a legendary weapon to replace it, you could get 12% MF back from the old weapon to apply to the new legendary weapon. You could keep adding MFD to an item until you reach whatever the maximum %MF would be on that given item.
I think MFD would need to be quite rare to obtain. And I think the amount of %MF that can be applied to certain items should have a certain maximum value depending on the rarity/quality of the item (higher rarity/quality items would have higher maximum values for %MF).
Another way it could work would be for the MFD to not be put on items themselves, but maybe on item slots, but I don't think that would work very well because everyone would eventually just max the %MF on every item slot and there would never be a need to take it off because you won't ever replace an item slot like you would a piece of armor or a weapon.
Any thoughts? Or am I months too late on this one.
P.S. I think that unless done in a new and awesome way, Magic Find shouldn't be implemented in D3.|||I like how it is currently. I like that you have to choose. That's the best part. Do I drop some stats for some better mf? Can I afford to do this and still survive?
I love gear juggling. It makes my character interesting and unique, and I have the power and ability to adapt to a situation if needed.
Adding "MFD" to all my stuff isn't fun to me.|||

Good points. MFD would probably just end up being an annoyance in the end since you'd feel like you had to max every item you have. So on second thought, not very fun like you said.|||

I agree. I don't like MF on items, either. I want to choose gear based on killing power with my build.
That being said, your idea could fit in perfectly with the enchanting system. Instead of a separate item (MFD), a MF bonus would simply be an available enchantment (like +Attack, etc.). So instead of making a choice between weapons, its a choice between enchantments, which I think is a good compromise.|||I think MF will work it's self out. I hope that inferno is so difficult that stacking more than just a little MF is pure suicide. I think that would be a nice change. The problem with MF in D2 is you could stack the hell out of it and still survive baal runs. That shouldn't be the case. Every point of MF you add should signifigantly reduce your chance of survival.|||

Actually, that's not fun at all because then you never end up wearing anything you find
It's annoying, and I hope it's completely removed|||

That's your opinion. Guess what? Blizzard doesn't like your opinion since they are adding items with magic find to Diablo 3.|||

I agree 100%.
MF would add absolutely nothing to the game other than forcing players to find and use that one class/skill combination that can best get away with not using real gear.|||The only way I could stomach magic find is if it's not a trade off between actual power (either offense or defense) and magic find. Make it a trade off between different types of wealth styles. Take a helmet, add sockets. Gems in the helmet only do these things.
-Magic find
-Gold find
-Gem find
-Rune find
-XP gains
-Recipe find (for artisan crafting)
Boom. No more problems w/ leechers, no more problems w/ class/gear imbalances, no more problems w/ throwing away better gear b/c there's no magic find, etc. Win win.|||
