What is the final word on non-lethal HC PVP?

[:1]Fairly self-explanatory. Is ther still 'god mode' practice and always-lethal regular? Do we still have to do mirror characters?|||I don't think there has been any official final word on this matter. I have faith that Blizzard will get this right and leave HC as it is, so that every death is always permanent, PvP or otherwise. Any other system will be completely redefining what Hardcore is, which is foolish.|||The jay wilson interview seemed to indicate that they're looking to add options. You'll be able to PvP and lose your character, or pvp without losing it. They also mentioned the possibility of playing "for keeps" where you get your opponent's character when you kill them.
That's not a "final word" though, that's just the most recent thing. We won't have a final word until release really, and even then they could always change that in patches.|||Non-lethal HC ain't HC. To practice go SC.|||

I just... really think this is stupid.
It would be so hard to mirror their gear, I can't imagine. You basically wouldn't get to practice. Bad idea. Please explain the down side to me? How would this hurt you? You can still do it, it's just an option.|||

Allowing non-permanent death PvP in Hardcore hurts everyone who wants Hardcore to be what it has always been. If you want to practice PvP, then you need to devote the time to build and gear up a softcore character and practice to your heart's content, or bite the bullet and learn as you go in Hardcore.
